    Jerzy Skarzynski was a Polish artist born in Krakow in 1924. He studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Krakow and later at the Faculty of Architecture of the Krakow University of Technology and the Academy of Fine Arts. Skarzynski was primarily known for his work in theater and film scenography, often collaborating with his wife Lidia Minticz-Skarzynska. He was a co-founder of several artist groups and worked with Tadeusz Kantor in his Underground Theater during the war. Skarzynski's paintings were influenced by surrealism and often featured metaphorical human figures. He worked for the Stary Theater in Krakow and other theaters in Poland and abroad, as well as for films. Skarzynski died in Krakow in 2004.
