    Joan Josep Tharrats Vidal was a Spanish artist. He began his artistic training in France and later enrolled at the Massana School in Barcelona. After the Civil War, he started his artistic activity and co-founded Dau al Set with other artists. Tharrats evolved from a certain initial impressionism towards a progressive abstraction, through the influences of Mondrian and Kandinsky.

    He exhibited his work in various galleries and biennials around the world. Tharrats also developed his own version of printmaking techniques and created posters, book illustrations, murals, stained glass, mosaics, jewelry, and opera scenographies. He was awarded the Cross of Sant Jordi in 1983 and the National Prize for Plastic Arts in 1994.
