    Joan Serra Melgosa was a Spanish artist associated with the group Los Evolucionistas. He trained at the Escuela de la Lonja in Barcelona under Francesc Labarta. Melgosa exhibited for the first time in 1918 and painted self-portraits, still lifes, and landscapes in a style influenced by Cézanne. He traveled to Madrid and Paris, where he further developed his artistic interests. Melgosa was closely linked to the Sala Parés in Barcelona and exhibited widely in Spain and internationally. Struggling with tuberculosis, he turned to landscape painting during his illness. He received awards such as the Barcelona City Council prize in 1931 and the Jaume Morera gold medal in 1950.
