    Joe Shuster (1914 - 1992)

    Joe Shuster was the comic book illustrator who, with writer Jerry Siegel (1914 - 1996), created the character "Superman".

    It debuted June 1, 1938, and is believed by many to be, "The most important comic-book character of the Twentieth Century and the very first superhero…" - Ron Goulart, page 320, Comic Book Encyclopedia. (1)

    Shuster was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He lived in the USA from the age of nine; first in Cleveland, Ohio; then New York City; and finally in Los Angeles, California where he died. (2)
