    Watercolorist John Pellew was born and educated in England. He paints in oil, acrylic and watercolor, but has received much praise for his watercolors.

    Pellew has won several awards during his career including the Allied Artists Gold Medal for Watercolor, 1951; Gold Medal for Watercolor, Hudson Valley Annual, 1954; Marine Painting Award, Connecticut Watercolor Society, 1958; the Adolph and Clara Orbig Award and the Henry W. Ranger Purchase Award, National Academy, New York, 1961; The Butler Award, The American Watercolor Society, New York, 1964; The Syndicate Magazine Gold Medal, Allied Arts of America, 1967; and the Silver Award, The American Watercolor Society, 1970.
