He was also a landscape painter who exhibited with the Boston Art Club, the Portland Society of Art, which he served as President, and the Brushians, a local group of southern Maine landscape painters of which he was the youngest by 20 years. He was also a landscape painter who exhibited with the Boston Art Club, the Portland Society of Art, which he served as President, and the Brushians, a local group of southern Maine landscape painters of which he was the youngest by 20 years. They nicknamed him "The Old Man".
