    Johnny Inukpuk Jr. (1930 - 1984)

    A sculptor and a member of a prominent family of Inuit artists, Johnny Inukpuk Jr. (aka: E9879) was born in or near Inukjuak (aka: Port Harrison or Inoucdjouac), Quebec, where he appears to have lived his life and died. Examples of his carvings are in the collections of the Musee de la Civilisation (Quebec City) and the National Gallery of Canada (Ottawa). Like most Inuit artists of his era, he was self-taught, although it is likely he was influenced by his father Johnny Inukpuk (see AskART) and by James Houston (see AskART).
