José de Guimarães was born in 1939 in Portugal. He is considered one of the main Portuguese plastic artists of contemporary art, having a vast and remarkable work in painting, sculpture, and other creative activities. He traveled through Europe between 1961 and 1966, getting to know the work of old masters and completing his degree in Engineering.
