    José María Romero y López was a Spanish artist who specialized in portraiture, particularly children's portraits. He worked for the Duke of Montpensier before moving to Madrid in 1866. Romero y López's notable works include "Ricardo and Federico Santaló," "Enrique, Concepción and Salud Santaló," and "El niño Eugenio de la Borbolla en traje de guardiamarina." He also excelled in genre painting, flower painting, and religious painting, with one of his renowned works being "Imposición de la casulla a san Ildefonso," housed in the cathedral of Cadiz. Additionally, he participated in various National Exhibitions of Fine Arts and received numerous awards for his work.
