    José Paredes Jardiel was a Spanish painter. After studying to go through several careers, such as law, architecture or medicine, he studied fine arts at the San Fernando Academy between 1949 and 1953.

    He traveled to Paris (1953) and Italy (1956) and when he returned he studied film decoration at the Official School of Madrid cinema. In his early days, he painted informally with Cubist reminiscences, but from 1961 he switched to the new figuration.

    In 1962, he was one of the founders of the Hondo group, which reacted against the total abstraction of art. He participated in the group exhibition Eros y el Arte actual en España of the Vandrès Gallery by Gloria Kirby and Fernando Vijande in 1970.
