    A promoter of the New Figuration in the fifties, José Vento would later evolve towards a lyrical abstraction that would end up leading, already in the nineties, in a language of pure color, stripped of any trace susceptible of being interpreted as a sign. Vento studied at the San Carlos School of Fine Arts in Valencia, and expanded his knowledge in El Paular, Madrid and Italy, thanks to various scholarships. He was a founder of Grupo Z and a member of Grupo Hondo, and in 1949 he held his first solo exhibition, which was followed by other personal and group exhibitions.
