    Joseph-Bernard Flaugier was a French painter who settled in Catalonia, Spain in his youth. He trained in Marseilles and later traveled to France where he met influential artists such as Jacques-Louis David and Pierre-Paul Prud'hon.

    He returned to Catalonia and established himself as an introducer of the Empire style, receiving important commissions for decorative and religious paintings. He was appointed director of the Llotja School in Barcelona and painted portraits of important figures such as Napoleon and Joseph Bonaparte.

    Flaugier is considered the father of Neoclassicism in Catalonia and founded the first public museum of painting in Barcelona. He is represented in various collections including the Prado Muse...
