    Joseph Heinrich Ludwig Marr was born in Hamburg in 1807 and was first trained by Friedrich Rosenberg (1758-1833), before he switched to the Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. From 1825 Marr was active in Munich.

    His favorite motifs included scenes from the Upper Bavarian, Tyrolean and Italian folk life. Examples of his works can be found, for instance, at the Neue Pinakothek in Munich, the Hamburger Kunsthalle and the Kunsthalle in Karlsruhe. Marr died in 1871.(cbo)...
