    Juan José Rochelt lived with his uncle, painter, Juan Rochelt and Darío de Regoyos, a close friend of the family, learning from them in his childhood. His artistic vocation became strong after his marriage in 1904, approximately, and he embarked on this path together with Darío de Regoyos, with whom he went out to paint, wrote letters to each other, etc.

    Known above all for his landscapes, he also founded the "Association of Basque Artists" in 1911, with which he showed his work frequently. He held numerous exhibitions, mainly in Spanish cities (Bilbao, Madrid, Barcelona, Oñati, Santiago de Compostela, etc.), and his paintings are preserved both in private collections in Spain and in prominent institutions (Bilbao Fine Arts Museum, ...
