    Juan Ugalde is a Spanish artist who was born in an unknown year and trained at the School of Fine Arts in Madrid. In 1986, he moved to New York on a Fullbright scholarship and formed the group Estrujenbank with Mariano Lozano and Dionisio Cañas. The group was recognized as one of the most important of the late 20th century and explored different artistic horizons, including performances, videos, and the creation of a museum space.

    Ugalde's work explores the language proposed by abstract expressionism and combines contradictory languages and dissimilar realities.
