    Born in West Prussia, Julius Wentscher devoted his life to depicting landscapes. In particular, however, the Baltic coast, which appears in ever different colors due to the Nordic light, fascinated the artist who was a student of Heinrich Gude in Berlin. One of his paintings was represented at the Great Berlin Art Exhibition in 1899 and received the "Small Golden Medal" there.
