About Justus Dalee

    Justus Dalee was born October 1, 1793 in Pittstown, Washington County, New York to James Waterman Da Lee and his wife, Anstis Kinnicutt. He married Mary Fowler October 13, 1816 at White Creek, Washington County, New York.

    He was a musician during the Anglo-America war of 1812, but is mostly remembered as an itinerant portrait painter and nearly seventy portraits of children are recorded. He travelled along the east coast primarily in Massachusetts, Connecticut and New York State. He died January 5,1878 in Eden, Wisconsin.
