Karl studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart 1884-1887 under Albert Kappis and Jakob Grünenwald and from 1887-1892 private student of Josef Wenglein in Munich. There he studied landscape painting. Karl Schickhardt traveled to Upper Bavaria and Italy, but was based in Stuttgart from 1892. He took the position of lecturer at the art school. He exhibited at local exhibitions and was known for landscape painting in his homeland and in particular the Swabian Alb.Internet
