    Karl H. Hodicke was born in 1938 in Nuremberg, Germany. He studied from 1959 to 1964 at the Berlin Fine Art School. From 1960 to 1964 he was a member of the Vision Group. He used glass surfaces to set off his images. In the late 1960s and in the beginning of 1970s he created objects which established the intellectual influence of Marcel Duchamp and Rene Magritte. After 1980 he became a leading figure in painting and sculpture, in the emerging Neo-expressionist group in Berlin. He had been teaching at the Berlin Fine Arts School.
