    The German genre and animal painter Karl Stuhlmüller (1859 – 1930) was part of the Munich School and is especially known for his images of animal markets and winter scenery. Stuhlmüller was a pupil of Carl Theodor von Piloty and graduated from the academy of arts in Munich. The city was an important art capital around the turn of the century.

    The artist’s way of painting is considered to be naturalistic: As a painter Stuhlmüller was guided by reality concerning the depiction of perspective, physicality and color.
