She was graduated from East Technical High School and entered the Cleveland School of Art in 1919. Upon graduation from the school she was awarded a Frederick C. Upon graduation from the school she was awarded a Frederick C. Gottwald Scholarship for a year's study in Paris. She joined the faculty in 1925 and taught at the Cleveland School of Art until 1961.
