    Kirsten Kjaer was born in Vester Thorup, Denmark on November 14, 1893. Kirsten married painter, Frode Nielsen Dann in 1918. The couple came to the U.S. and lived in Oakland during 1926-29, but soon separated. While there, she painted portraits and landscapes of northern California before returning to Copenhagen. Primarily a portraitist, her works are housed there in the Kirsten Kjaer Museum.

    Exhibited: Oakland Art Gallery, 1928; Oakland Art League, 1928 (Santa Rosa Roofs); San Francisco Art Ass'n, 1928-29.
