    Knud Ove Hilkier (1884-1953)

    Born in Copenhagen, Denmark. He was inspired by Sigurd Swane & the French impressionists. His paintings hang in the North Jutland Art Museum, AROS Aarhus Art Museum and the National Academy in Oslo,Nordjyllands Kunstmuseum among others. He is buried in the Frederiksberg older cemetery.

    Knud Ove Hilkier studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1901 to 1907. In addition to receiving numerous scholarships, which allowed him to further his studies in Spain and Italy, Hilkier also made frequent visits to Paris. Here he was influenced by the prevailing Impressionist style which caused his palette to lighten and his brushwork to become looser and more expres...
