    He studied at the Pattern Drawing School, the Master School of Székely and the Academy of Karlsruhe. He took study trips to Germany, France, England, Holland and Belgium. He visited Nagybánya at some point of time around 1896, and looked for themes in the highlands and around lake Balaton. He was one of the founders of the Szolnok artists colony and remained a core member until his death. He taught the students visiting the colony in the summer his main genre, landscape painting. He and two fellow artists from his student years, Dániel Mihalik (with whom he shared a studio) and Ferenc Olgyai, formed a group that was called the triad of landscape painters from Szolnok.
