    Leonid Petrovich Sokov was a Russian nonconformist artist and sculptor. He graduated from the Stroganov Institute (now the Moscow School of Art and Industry) in 1969 and emigrated to the United States in 1980, settling in New York City. Sokov is associated with the Sots Art movement and is known for combining elements of Socialist Realism and Pop Art. Sokov represented Russia at the Venice Biennale in 2001 and participated in the Gwangju Biennale in 2004. Major retrospectives of his work were held at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (2012), the Zimmerli Art Museum (2013), and the State Tretyakov Gallery (2016).
