  • Biography

    A painter, architect and wood carver, Lloyd Albright lived in Dalhart, Texas and was born in Cleburne, Texas. He was very interested in adobe structures and designed many replicas of them for Dalhart including his own studio, a two-level structure, which he decorated with his wood carvings. As a painter, he did numerous New Mexico and West Texas landscapes and scenes with adobes, missions, mountains and trees.

    He worked for the Rock Island Railroad and was in the Army during World War I.

    As an artist, he was primarily self taught, although in 1922 he took a few classes at the Chicago Academy of Fine Art, and in 1930 studied in Taos, New Mexico, with Buck Dunton, and in 1931 with Emil Bisttram.
