    Llyn Foulkes, born in 1934, was educated at the Chouinard Art Institute in Los Angeles. He is a creator of assemblages, and is a painter and conceptualist, whose work has characteristics of Pop Art with repeated monochrome images of eroded rocks, to which he applies labels as if they might be postcards. His assemblages incorporate polyethylene, wood, paper and enamel and his paintings done in oil and acrylic.

    Llyn Foulkes and the Rubber Band group was founded by him in the 1970s, using humor and refusing to become "a product for art's sake." Apparently believing in the most direct approach to art, he wants to give art validity "in an over-stimulated world."
