    Lorenzo Cardini (1885-1969)
    Hearst Castle. San Simeon/San Francisco craftsman who carved the Standing Swan lampposts situated along the Neptune Terrace at Hearst Castle, after drawings by Thaddeus Joy.

    His WWI Draft Registration Card states he was living at 916 Pacific St., SF, naturalized, an unemployed marble cutter, nearest relative is Angelo Cardini at Regiment M. O. S. C. Camp F. T., Oglethorpe, Georgia, described as medium height, slender, brown eyes, brown hair; “From the mid 1930s until the mid-1960s, Italian-born Lorenzo Cardini (1885-1969) managed the historic marble works [in SF] and continued the tradition carving ‘marble fireplace, table tops, and cemetery he...
