    Lorne Kidd Smith CSGA (c.1886/1887 – active to 1962) (1)

    A painter, draftsman and commercial artist, Lorne Kidd Smith (signs: Lorne K. Smith) was born in Niagara Falls, Ontario and lived most of his life in Toronto. He exhibited with the Ontario Society of Artists* and was a Vice President of the Canadian Society of Graphic Art* (1924 – 1925). His works are in the collection of the Library and Archives Canada.

    His mediums were oils, gouache*, tempera*, watercolors, pen & ink, pencil and poster art. His subjects were landscapes, marine scenes, rural scenes, figures, urban life, and historic events. He painted in Ontario, Quebec, the Rocky Mountains, and Arizona. His styles could be described as Naturalism*, Realism* and Soc...
