  • Biography

Lucien-Victor Guirand de Scévola was born in 1871 and died in Paris in 1950. A student of Fernand Cromon and Pierre Dupuis at the École des Beaux Arts in Paris, Guirand de Scévola was above all known as a painter in the academic style and a refined pastellist. He left an abundant body of work, including landscapes, flower paintings, society portraits, scènes galantes and nudes. His portraits of young women in the symbolist style are highly estimated. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, the Salon Nationale and the Salon d'Automne and was a member of the Société des Pastellistes Français and of the Comité de la Société des Beaux-Arts de Paris. In 1914 he was honored as an Officier in the Légion d'Honneur.
