Czech folklorist, writer and painter, Ludvík Kuba first studied at the organ school and later at the teacher training institute in Kutná Hora, where he began his first sketches and paintings of the corners of the old town.

He completed his painting education with Karel Liebscher and on recommendation he joined the Prague Academy of Painting, which he followed up a study stay in Paris at the prestigious Julian Academy.
