In February 1918, followed by a first solo exhibition at Paul Cassirer in Berlin and then at the Kestner-Gesellschaft, Hannover. In his late work Meidner painted numerous self-portraits and depictions of public figures. These are naturalistic and still show only the details of the brushwork, the expressive gestures.
