    Ludwig Willroider was born in Austrian Carinthia in 1845. He received his first painting lessons by his brother Josef Willroider. In the mid-1860s he left Austria to study at the Academy in Munich where he was educated and inspired by Eduard Schleich the Elder (1812-1874) and Adolf Lier (1826-1882). In addition, he belonged to the circle of Christian Friedrich Mali (1832-1906) and Anton Braith (1836-1905).

    The popular motifs of the Austrian painter and the Isroider were landscapes from Upper Bavaria, South Tyrol and Italy.

    Willroider received several awards for his exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace. In 1883 he became an honorary member of the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. Willroider died in...
