    Ludwik Maciag was a Polish artist who studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow and Warsaw, and obtained his diploma in 1951. He was a lecturer and later dean of the painting department at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His favorite motifs were landscapes, horses, and battle scenes. He participated in many exhibitions in Poland and abroad and was known for his book illustrations, posters, postage stamp designs, and tapestries. He is considered one of the most outstanding contemporary battle and landscape painters.
