    Marc Adrian is considered a pioneer in many areas of contemporary art. After studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna as well as in Paris and Milan, he was initially close to the "Vienna Group".Around 1960 he appeared as a protagonist of the internationally active neo-avant-garde in the artist associations ZERO and was described by Peter Weibel as the "father of Austrian media art".

    In 1965 he was the only Austrian to take part in the important Op Art exhibition "The Responsive Eye" at the New York Museum of Modern Art.
