About Margaret A Rice

  • Biography

    Margaret A. Rice (1901)

An American painter, Margaret A. Rice was born in Saskatchewan, Canada and lived in Seattle, Washington. She exhibited at the Western Washington Fair in Puyallup in 1936. She studied in Seattle under Leon Derbyshire and Alma Lorraine. We know Rice’s medium was oil paint and her subjects included portraits because an oil painting by her titled “Head of Christ” is noted in the book Who's Who in Northwest Art (see sources) published in 1941 presumably while Rice was alive and living in Seattle. However, other than the auction results, most of which we doubt are by Margaret A. Rice, we have no idea of her subject matter. (1)(2)
