In 1907, just out of school, she married Clifton Tupper, a founder of the San Angelo Evening Standard newspaper. Four years later they moved to Waco, Texas, and in 1912, they moved again, this time to San Antonio where they lived for 25 years until his death in 1938. In 1907, just out of school, she married Clifton Tupper, a founder of the San Angelo Evening Standard newspaper.
