Her father was also an artist who had studied with John Singer Sargent. She was a graduate of the Scott Carbee School of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts School in Boston. She also studied at the Art Student League of New York and studied landscape painting with such notables as Aldro T. Hibbard, Karl Nordstrom, W. Lester Stevens and Emile A. Gruppe.
