    In his early years, Manuel or Mariano Obiols Delgado was a disciple of Martí Alsina, in whose studio he painted landscapes with figures. He later moved to Paris, where he painted ‘La Porte Saint-Denis’ which was celebrated by the Parisian critics.

    In 1890, he moved to Seville, specializing in Andalusian genre painting. He worked as an illustrator for various magazines. In a second stay in Paris, he painted cityscapes of the Quarter Latin and the Montmartre and some genre scenes in the Bois de Boulogne.
