Marie Vermeulen-Breedt, an artist with 45 years of experience, specializes in oil portraits, interiors, and landscapes. She has recently ventured into clay and ceramics. After relocating to the Eastern Cape, her work is profoundly influenced by the rugged landscapes, featuring fissured rocks and undergrowth. The rocks, known as Dolerite, form into clusters called the Amatole. These rocks fissure and break into smooth, flat surfaces, which Breedt cuts and paints on.
