About Marios Loizides

    Loizides was born 1928 in Nicosia, Cyprus. He studied painting and lithography at St Martin's School of Art, London from 1951 to 1954, together with courses in stage and costume design. He worked in London for a number of years as a decorator and designer. He lived in Ydra from 1961 until his death in 1989, working exclusively as a painter.

    He held more than 10 solo exhibitions, in London, Montreal, Brussels, Athens, Nicosia, and elsewhere. He took part in a number of group exhibitions, most notably the Alexandria Biennale (1968).
