    Marjorie Pigott RCA, OSA, CSPWC (1904 – 1990)

    A prominent Canadian painter and educator, Marjorie Pigott was born in Yokohama, Japan to an English father and a Japanese mother. She immigrated to Canada in 1940, settling briefly in Vancouver, B.C. and then in Toronto, Ontario where she lived for the rest of her life and died. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts* and the Ontario Society of Artists*. Her paintings are in the collections of several museums including the National Gallery of Canada and the Royal Collection of Queen Elizabeth II.

    Pigott’s primary medium was wet-into-wet watercolors. Her primary subjects were landscapes and florals. Her styles are described as Nanga School and Semi-Abstraction. The...
