    Martin Frost (1875 Breslau to 1928 in Kampen/Sylt) was a German military and battle painter. Martin Frost studied at the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau and at the Royal Academy of Arts in Berlin with Maximilian Schäfer and Max Koner.

    In the period from 1899-1900 Frost served as a one-year volunteer. Frost painted mainly landscapes and scenes from the everyday life of farmers and fishermen of northern Germany, but also expressionist nude studies.

    With the outbreak World War I he came to the Eastern Front as a war painter. In October 1915 Frost served on the Alsace Front. In January 1916 Frost was employed as an "approved war painter" at the staff of the 9th Reserve Division. His works depict the everyday life of G...
