    Martin van Waning was born in 1889 and died in 1972. Actually called Gijsbertus Martinus Wilhelmus Franciscus van Waning "De signs van Schiermonnikoog (The painter of Schiermonnikoog)". He was a dutch painter, sculptor, medalist, illustrator, graphic artist and watercolorist, musical production in parents, first engineering degree in mechanical engineering in Delft, then turning to painting and studying in Paris.

    He was a student of Charles Bernardus Dankmeijer, Jan van Rhijnen and Willem de Zwart, largely self - 17 training in Germany and until 1914 in Wiesbaden.
