    Mary Brewster Hazelton(1868-1953) The Forgotten Pride of Wellesley and Boston Art.

    Mary Brewster Hazelton was a quiet trail blazer in the early years of the "Boston School" of Art. Born in Milton, Massachusetts as the daughter of a Civil War surgeon and mental health advocate, she spent most of her adult life in Wellesley MA. After graduating from Wellesley High School. she was an early student of the famous Museum School in Boston with such legendary teachers as Edmund Tarbell, Joseph De Camp and Frank Benson.
