    Maurice Ehlinger was born in Champagney, France in 1896.

    Ehlinger enrolled at l'Ecole des Beaux Arts de Nancy in 1910. In 1920 he worked in the atelier of François Flameng, he helped Flameng with the decoration of the stairway of the Sorbonne. Elhinger exhibited regularly at the Salon des Artistes Français, beginning in 1923; he won medals in 1928 and 1929.

    In 1938 Elhinger exhibited at the Galerie Charpentier in Paris under the patronage of the Princess of Bauffremont. In 1939 he painted a portrait of Germaine Roger for l'Opéra Comique, and a portrait of Sonia Bessis (Miss France) for an exhibition at Héricourt.

    In 1941 he won a gold medal at a Paris salon, and in 1942 he petitioned...
