Ghaui considers himself a fortunate man to be able to live and paint amongst the animals and land he knows so well. Ghaui was educated both in Kenya, where he studied art to an advanced level, and in Great Britain, where he obtained a degree in agriculture from London University. While in Great Britain, he continued to paint and made frequent trips back to the African bush at every opportunity. Ghaui began to paint professionally in 1978.
