    Michael Lonechild (1955)

    A prominent western Canadian painter, illustrator and teacher, Michael Leslie Lonechild was born on the White Bear Indian Reserve (Cree First Nations), Saskatchewan and currently divides his time between Saskatchewan and Alberta. His works are in the permanent collections of several museums including the Canadian Museum of History. (1)

    His primary medium is acrylic paint. His subjects include portraits, landscapes, figures, wilderness and rural activities (hunting, fishing, farming, etc.), Nehiyaw (Plains Cree) culture, Indian history, and 19th and early 20th century Indian life.
