About Michael Rees

  • Biography

From Kansas City, he creates sculpture incorporating anatomical details such as skulls and ears into works that have the appearance of bleached bones. But the material is translucent, apricot-colored expoxy resin, created with a computer-assisted design program. In other words, they are wholly synthetic entities, put together from a codex of images. He has exhibited at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and had a special exhibit at Grand Arts Gallery in Kansas City, fall 1998.
