    Michel-Francois Dandre Bardon was born in 1700. Michel-François Dandré-Badron worked as a painter, engraver, writer and composer. The versatile southern Frenchman was in Paris pupil of Jean-Baptiste van Loo and Jean François de Troy. From 1725-31 he stayed in Italy, including in Venice. In 1735 he was admitted to the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. After staying in the south of France, he finally settled in Paris in 1752, where he soon concentrated on the teaching and publication of art theoretical writings. As an artist, Dandré-Bardon was regarded as a particularly gifted practitioner who appropriated the style of painting of the Venetian artists of his time in an individual way and established this style in Fran...
