In 1735 he was admitted to the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. After staying in the south of France, he finally settled in Paris in 1752, where he soon concentrated on the teaching and publication of art theoretical writings. As an artist, Dandré-Bardon was regarded as a particularly gifted practitioner who appropriated the style of painting of the Venetian artists of his time in an individual way and established this style in France....
